From Frasnedo, take the trail that climbs up the valley; after passing the Primalpia Bivouac, you’ll reach the Primalpia Pass. From here, the descent begins , leading past the Spluga lakes toward Cevo. Just before the village of Cevo, a bridge allows you to cross the valley. About 50 meters before reaching this bridge, the trail splits: one path leads to Cevo, while the other—which has no signs—leads to Cataeggio. Take this route, which consists of a very distinct trail marked with red and white trail markers, though they are somewhat faded. The trail proceeds flat at first, then climbs steeply to bypass a landslide. After crossing a small valley, the trail arrives at Cornolo, near a fountain. Here, the trail gives way to a small paved road; follow it, passing in front of a small ruined church. The route continues downhill, and just after crossing a bridge, a staircase on the left leads up to a trail in the woods. Follow this trail, and you’ll soon reach Cataeggio, rejoining the original route of the Sentiero Italia.
