Piantedo, a few km from the northern tip of Lake Como, is the starting point of the Western Way of the Marian Alpine Path. From the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie and Suffragio in Valpozzo, the itinerary winds along the Orobie side of the Valtellina, passing through small villages to the Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin Immaculate, in the ancient core of Andalo. From here, the route continues crossing the provincial road leading to Val Gerola, homeland of Bitto DOP cheese, then descends to Morbegno, a town with a lively historic center and rich in shops and stores of typical products, as well as the arrival point of the first stage with the Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Graces, locally known as the gise'ta (little church).
