The Marian Alpine Path includes two routes: the Western Way, from Piantedo to Tirano, 90 km, and the Eastern Way from Bormio to Tirano, 70 km, currently under construction.
The Western Way, in particular, can be divided into 5 stages: Piantedo-Morbegno, Morbegno-Berbenno, Berbenno-Sondrio, Sondrio-Teglio, and Teglio-Tirano.
The route connects with other networks of trails and paths, primarily the Terrace Way which represents the most typical area of the Valtellina landscape, characterized by terraced vineyards but also of great historical and artistic value, strongly representative and full of symbolic value.
Before starting the Path, remember to download from the official website the Credential, the “pilgrim’s passport,” a document that certifies the completion of the Marian Alpine Path through a series of stamps that verify the pilgrim's passage through the various stages. Upon presenting the Credential at the final stage, at the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Tirano, the Testimonium (certificate of completed pilgrimage) will be issued by the Rector of the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Tirano.
