Forni Refuge - Ables - S. Caterina Valfurva with joëlette

The route starts from the parking lot located at the Forni refuge. The section from Santa Caterina to the Forni Refuge is only passable with a pass or transported by special private jeeps. It is recommended to park the car at Santa Caterina just after the village and, in advance, arrange with private carriers for the transfer of people and equipment (joelette) to the starting point (Forni Refuge). From the Forni Refuge, a short but quite steep uphill section is taken heading northeast, then turning west to follow a long undulating traverse to the Ables area where the Ables Farmhouse is located. From here, you descend via a comfortable path towards Santa Caterina or alternatively follow a jeep track. Along the entire route, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Valfurva and the surrounding peaks.

WARNING: after the small bridge crossing the stream coming from Lake Manzina, there are a few hundred meters of path with a very uneven surface. Exercise extreme caution and provide at least 4 people for transporting the joelette.
