An easy snowshoe hike suitable for the whole family, including the youngest hikers, which, crossing the splendid landscape of the Pian di Gembro Nature Reserve, offers snowy and enchanting views over Valtellina and the Adamello group.
Starting from the Pian di Gembro Rest Stop, the path crosses the wooden bridge and continues with a slight uphill slope inside a dense forest of firs, pines, and larches. As soon as you pass the mountain ridge dividing the Aprica area from the Reserve, you reach the "Valcheola" area. Here, following the path to the right, you descend to the little church of S. Fortunato, where the panorama is breathtaking: a view from above of all the mid-lower Valtellina framed by the imposing Rhaetian Alps and Orobie Alps.
On the clearest days, it is even possible to admire from afar the Monte Rosa group.
For the return, the route runs along the road bordering the peat bog, which leads back to the starting point, passing by the Reserve's educational hall.
Required equipment: snow hiking gear, snowshoes, poles, and possibly crampons.
