A route with a truly alpine scope that crosses Italy and Switzerland and takes cyclists through a wide variety of landscapes, from the Valtellina valley floor to mountain passes over 2,000 meters.

From Bormio, the route descends along the Valtellina to Tirano, the lowest point of the route, at an elevation of about 441 meters. From here, you enter Switzerland and begin climbing up the Poschiavo Valley, following the route of the famous Bernina Red Train for long stretches.

Past Poschiavo, the road continues to climb until the junction for the Forcola di Livigno Pass, which, at 2,315 meters, is the highest point of the tour. After crossing the pass, the route re-enters Italian territory and descends toward Livigno.

After passing through the town, the route continues toward the Eira Pass, at about 2,210 meters, and then tackles a final uphill stretch to the Foscagno Pass, at 2,291 meters.

From Foscagno, the long final descent begins toward Valdidentro and then Bormio.

With a distance of about 130 km and 2,524 meters of elevation gain, the ride requires good physical conditioning, the ability to handle many hours in the saddle, and experience with long Alpine climbs.
