Alta Via della Valmalenco stage 7

Stage of naturalistic interest and of considerable development, but without major difficulties; from Rif. Bignami one crosses the cirque with the glacial streams (bridges) to Alpe Gembrè and from here on a wide mule track one reaches the huts of Alpe Val Poschiavina. Having climbed the entire length of the picturesque and restful valley, one encounters the more challenging sections in the ascent to the passes where one can appreciate a beautiful view of Val Poschiavo and the peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale and Adamello groups. From the Campagneda Pass one descends to the pastures of the alpine pasture of the same name, encountering a series of pleasant small lakes, and then veers southwest in the direction of Alpe Prabello and Rif. Cristina. The described route follows up to Alpe di Val Poschiavina a variant section; the basic route, of similar length and duration, includes a descent to the Gera Dam 2100m.
