The global landscape of trail running is enriched by an event destined to become an icon: the Ortles Haute Route Trail.
On September 11 and 12, the Stelvio National Park will host the first edition of a race that promises to be "more than a competition, an unforgettable journey." The entire event will follow rigorous sustainability criteria, adhering to the "plastic free" policy to protect the ecosystem of the Stelvio National Park.
The Ortles Haute Route Trail is an inclusive event and offers distances suitable for different levels of preparation. The races will take place with starts and finishes in Bormio, on Friday, September 11, with the start of the Ortles Haute Route Trail, and on Saturday, September 12, with the start of the Raethia Trail and the OH Short Trail.
Ortles Haute Route Trail (120 km / 8,100 m D+)
The epic challenge from Bormio to Bormio with a time limit of 38 hours. A logical route, inaugurated in 2018, that circles around an iconic mountain, Ortles (3,905 m). Entirely within the Stelvio National Park, the course spans 120 km with 9,000 m of elevation gain, traversing all the situations of the alpine environment: from trails in larch and spruce forests, to rocky paths and easy glaciers. A tough and adventurous ride with three crossings above 3,000 m between Lombardy and South Tyrol, a symbolic pass like the Stelvio Pass, and finally a longed-for finish line in Bormio, the Magnificent Land.
Raethia Trail (35 km / 2,300 m D+)
A moderately difficult challenge, technical yet accessible, always based in Bormio. A loop that crosses history and nature: from the Old Baths to the Fraele Towers, along the old military road, skirting the Cancano lakes. A "fast" but alpine trail, with a noticeable elevation gain.
OH Short Trail (12 km / 600 m D+)
Designed for those who want to approach trail running on a runnable and inclusive course. An easy route, suitable for both beginners and pros, to reach places of extraordinary beauty and importance in the Magnificent Land such as the Reit foothills, the New Baths Park, and the Motte di Oga.
