Painting the Mountains (Pierre Cadot - duration: 59 minutes - year: 2024)
A journey into the heart of one of the most unpredictable mountain ranges in the world, to share the passionate perspective of Matthew, a photographer-journalist in love with El Chaltén, this extraordinary place at the foot of the Fitz Roy massif in Argentine Patagonia. The weather conditions and the topography make skiing there particularly challenging and often an extreme practice. This unique community of skiers is Matthew's favorite subject for his works.
Free Rider (Jerôme Tanon - duration: 35 minutes - year: 2022)
Sam Anthamatten (on skis) and Victor de Le Rue (on snowboard) push beyond the limits in untouched Alaska. A plane drops them off on a remote and unexplored glacier, and they set out to conquer impossible walls in a series of ascents, each more challenging than the last. The narrator, Jérôme Tanon, describes the endeavor aiming to make us feel in their shoes, to understand what these so-called "free riders" are made of and what the purpose and beauty of "freeride" is.

Trento Film Festival: Mountains and Cultures
Founded in 1952, the Trento Film Festival is the first thematic film festival in the world and the second Italian festival after the Venice Film Festival. For over seventy years, it has been the reference event dedicated to the themes of mountain, adventure, and exploration, and environmental, cultural, and current issues have increasingly made the event and its programming stimulating and varied.
The mountain is the protagonist, and numerous themes linked to it, starting from mountaineering and its great international figures, have opened and evolved over the years, exploring new forms of language, dialogue, and sharing with the audience.
Every year the international competition presents the best documentaries, feature films, and short films set in the mountains and extreme regions of the world.
