Donna se' tanto grande e tanto vali is a renowned theatrical performance, sacred concert and recital conceived and directed by Gerardo Placido, focused on the figure of the Madonna through the prayer of Saint Bernard (Paradiso, Canto XXXIII) and music.
Thus, director Gerardo Placido presents the Virgin Mary:
"Donna se' tanto grande e tanto vali is a sacred recital that celebrates the feminine universe through words, music and emotions.
The Supreme Poet invokes the Virgin Mary as a symbol of female dignity.
The performance celebrates not only great protagonists, but also ordinary women who, in everyday life, have been mothers, educators, workers and builders of the future through monologues, staged readings and poems taken from the texts of Dante Alighieri, Padre Turoldo, Tonino Bello, Giovanni Testori.
Mary is presented not only as a sacred figure, but as a real woman and a mother torn by the pain of losing her son. Her suffering is similar to that of any parent faced with tragedy and the incomprehensible."
