The Department of Culture organizes, every Wednesday in July and August, "Read Bormio, a mountain of words", a series of meetings with various authors.

Reading and discussion of the book "Test match: encounters on a fixed term", by Marta Rini.

Description

After 'La ricamatrice d'assenze', Marta Rini returns with a novel that is lighter in tone but still deeply psychological.
A psychopedagogue, author and trainer, she has been working for years in the world of education and relationships, observing closely what happens when emotions, thoughts and bonds intertwine in real life.
She writes to give shape to those dynamics that often slip by, with a clear-eyed, ironic and human perspective.

Viola no longer believes in love.
Or rather: she has stopped considering it an experience and has started treating it as an object of study.
After a series of failed encounters in the most unpredictable ecosystem of the contemporary era - dating apps - she decides to do what she does best: observe, analyze, classify. Tinder becomes a laboratory, conversations become data, and men become research subjects of varying reliability.
This gives rise to a personal experiment, halfway between anthropological investigation and emotional self-defense: to understand relational patterns, break down dynamics, and reduce chaos to something readable.
Too bad that the observer, at a certain point, stops being external.
Between surreal messages, improbable characters and moments of ruthless clarity, Viola builds a distance that protects her... until an unexpected variable enters the system.
And then data is no longer enough.
Ironic, intelligent and surprisingly real, this novel tells the story of love in the digital age with a fresh perspective: clear-eyed but never cold, analytical yet deeply human.
Because perhaps the problem is not understanding love.
It is accepting that it can never be replicated.
