ENGLISH BELOW

The Deer’s Rufing in Cancano | Hikes and treks with the Bormio Alpine Guides

Hikes suitable for everyone, set amidst the stunning scenery of the Stelvio National Park and the most picturesque corners of the Alta Valtellina. Thanks to the expertise of our Alpine Guides and Mid-Mountain Guides, you’ll be able to discover unique places off the beaten track. You’ll thus experience nature at its most authentic, with its genuine silence, colours and scents.
Early autumn is the deer’s rutting season
. The stags bellow, and the forest clearings echo with their calls, which serve to intimidate rival stags and attract as many does as possible to their harem. If the bellowing is not enough to intimidate the other stags, it can even lead to a ‘clash’: a sort of ‘arm-wrestling’ contest, antler against antler.
