La Bekaria – Tradition, flavour and conviviality
Two days of celebration, folklore and authentic flavours: in Isolaccia, la Bekaria returns, the event that recreates the ancient pig butchering tradition, organised with passion by Gioventù Isolaccia.
In the past, the “bekaria” represented a key moment in peasant life: an occasion for families to come together, collaborate and share the fruits of their labour, transforming pork into cured meats and delicacies that would last through the winter. Today, this tradition lives on in a festive form, with live demonstrations, tastings of local dishes, music, entertainment and the genuine atmosphere of times gone by.
La Bekaria is not just about food: it is popular culture, collective memory, and the chance to take a true step back in time, rediscovering the authenticity and convivial spirit of a custom that has shaped the history of our valley.
An event that brings all generations together and delights both those who want to relive childhood memories and those who wish to get to know local traditions up close.
