A special evening dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi, on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of his death.
With “Saint Francis: Between Music and Words”, the brass quintet Five for Brass takes the audience on a journey that combines music, readings, and cultural insights, to rediscover the figure of the Saint and his influence throughout the centuries of Humanism and the Renaissance.
🎺 A concert between music and storytelling
The evening features a program specially designed for the Franciscan Year 2026, pairing the quintet’s music with readings taken from the life of Saint Francis and studies посвящated to his cultural legacy.
The selected repertoire spans the late medieval and Renaissance periods, with modern arrangements of music particularly linked to the figure of the Saint, including “Fratello Sole, Sorella Luna”.
📖 The figure of Saint Francis through the centuries
Saint Francis is one of the most beloved and universal figures in Christian history and European culture.
His witness of simplicity, fraternity, and care for creation has crossed the centuries, leaving a profound mark not only on spirituality, but also on art, literature, and humanist thought.
Through music and words, the evening invites the audience to rediscover this connection, in a journey that begins in the Middle Ages and reaches the dawn of the Renaissance.
🎶 Five for Brass
The star of the event will be Five for Brass, a brass quintet founded in 2011 in the province of Bergamo, born from the meeting of five musicians with different musical backgrounds.
The ensemble moves naturally from Renaissance repertoire to melodrama, from Baroque music to contemporary works, and on to more modern sounds such as jazz, pop, folk, and film soundtracks.
The group is made up of:
Lorenzo Pandolfi, trumpet
Enrico Mismara, trumpet
Michele Morettini, horn
Alessandro Brignoli, trombone
Aleandro Martinelli, tuba

✨ Not just a concert
