The Val Grosina presents itself to visitors with still intact and well-preserved alpine features and landscapes, including alpine pastures, streams, lakes, and its typical rural settlements. It is divided into two main valleys: the Val d'Eita to the east and the Val di Sacco to the west. The ascent route to Eita is entirely on asphalt, passing through the locality of Fusino (above the first dam), then along the right side of the valley with a moderate accessible gradient. The route skirts the second large artificial lake, passes on the left side, and you pedal with effort on slopes up to 15%, arriving at Eita in a broad glacial basin. The descent takes place on the other side of the valley along a dirt and paved road that passes by several clusters of huts and well-maintained pastures and returns to Fusino. In the last stretch, after San Giacomo, you descend on a dirt road to Venosta Castle and then to Grosio. Text and photos by Federico Pollini.
