From the Calcheira Bridge P3, take path N167 which runs along the Federia stream on the left side, easy to walk and completely renewed. Just a few dozen meters ahead you will find a green clearing, Lule'ta, equipped for picnic stops with barbecue. Continue with forested scenery on the left side of the valley and meadows characterized by houses, teepees, and the small church of Federia on the right side. Without any difficulty you reach a flat green area, Plan da l'Isole'ta. Shortly after, having crossed the Rin da Cascia'na, take the right turn onto path N172, a dirt road climbing in switchbacks and crossing Plan di Mort, then continuing up to the 2,601 m altitude of Rifugio da Cascia'na. This is just a few hundred meters from the homonymous pass, once considered an important crossing for trade exchanges with the nearby Grisons.
