In autumn, the Cancano lake area transforms into a true natural painting: the larches take on various shades of yellow, sunlight filters through the branches creating warm and enveloping reflections, all contrasted with the intense colors of the water. It is the perfect time to experience an immersive hike in this special area of the Park, discovering the wonderful alpine foliage.
The meeting point is at 9:30, at the San Giacomo di Fraele parking lot, after the picnic area. From here, a guided walk begins along the convenient dirt road that leads into the Valle Alpisella, among larch forests and panoramic views. The trail is classified as easy hiking and is suitable for inexperienced walkers.
During the hike, the guide will describe the characteristics of the alpine landscape in its autumn attire, explaining the unique transformation of larch – the only conifer that sheds its leaves - and the ecological dynamics that make foliage such a fascinating phenomenon. There will also be curiosities about the local flora and fauna, along with breaks to enjoy the views, take photographs, and observe nature at leisure.
The route includes stops at the most scenic spots in the valley, reaching the Passo di Valle Alpisella and passing by the sources of the Adda. A day outdoors, to breathe in autumn with all the senses and be enchanted by the colors of the mountains before winter arrives.
