The glaciologist Riccardo Scotti, scientific director of the Lombardy Glaciological Service and regional coordinator for Lombardy of the Italian Glaciological Committee, will guide us in discovering the Alpine glaciers — true archives of past climates and, at the same time, dramatic witnesses to the environmental crisis we are currently facing.
Through data, photographs, and videos, we will explore the evolution of glaciers over the past two centuries, their accelerated retreat in recent decades, and the consequences for the environment, Alpine communities, and the balance of our ecosystem.
A special focus will also be dedicated to permafrost and its progressive degradation, which has direct implications for the hydrogeological stability of our mountains.
A unique opportunity to understand how climate change is transforming our landscapes and how urgent it is to take action, with the help of these extraordinary “natural storytellers.”
