The event is organized in collaboration with the Brugherio Balloon Company. The first manned hot air balloon flight in Italy dates back to 1784 and was the result of the enlightened vision of Count Paolo Andreani. This historic event marked the beginning of Italian aviation right in the Lombard town of Brugherio.
Still today, the Company brings its “travelling” hot air balloon to cities across Italy and abroad. On this occasion, in Santa Caterina, everyone — adults and children alike — will have the chance to board the balloon and gently rise into the sky in complete safety, thanks to the tethered flight experience with a large, colorful balloon.
Meanwhile, on the ground, an educational balloon will be fully inflated for visitors to step inside. Here, friendly guides dressed in authentic late 18th-century costumes will share stories and curiosities about Count Andreani’s flight and reveal, together with expert balloonists, all the secrets of how a hot air balloon works.
A truly fascinating world to discover and experience together!
The activity is FREE and open to everyone!
