Val Viola: a pearl of Valdidentro
In the Arnoga hamlet of Valdidentro (about 15 km from Bormio direction Livigno), here’s one of the destinations not to be missed for hiking lovers, and ideal for everyone: the Val Viola, an alpine valley coming alive from the waters of the Viola river. A long mountain chain, with peaks over 3000 meters, is the natural scenery showing up before the eyes of the visitors: among the most important peaks you can recognize the Cima Piazzi (3439 meters), the Cima Viola (3374 meters) and the Cima Dosdè (3280 meters).
Full immersion in the snow of the val viola
The Val Viola is certainly one of the most impressive valleys.
It is very wide and bright due to its orientation from east to west, which gives it long hours of light, which is why you can choose to visit the valley in any season.
In spring and summer the green-coloured paths are accessible to everyone from the oldest to the youngest on foot or if you prefer by e-bike.
You can't miss Val Viola in autumn. The colours that cover the valley are breathtaking, the woods that turn from yellow to orange to fiery red, the penetrating scent of the undergrowth, the calm and quiet that you can breathe on the paths.
In winter, all dressed in white, the Val Viola is even more fascinating and, to best enjoy its beauty, we suggest some outdoor activities:
- snowshoeing: a well signed, easy route of 11 km which is accessible even at night time with a frontal torch;
- fat bikes: feel like riding your bike along snow covered trails? The Val Viola is the perfect place to try these bikes, both day and night time;
- ski mountaineering: thanks to the high peaks surrounding the valley, there are many different excursions, also accompanied by the local Alpine Guides, who can organize individual or group outings;
- hiking: last but not least, here’s another great way to enjoy the peace of the Val Viola even in Winter!
