On the occasion of the celebrations for the bicentennial of the Stelvio Pass Road, the Polifunzionale of Rasin will host a special evening that combines theater, history, and memory to pay tribute to one of the most iconic engineering works of the Alps.
The Stelvio Pass Road, inaugurated in 1825 and designed by engineer Carlo Donegani, represents a masterpiece of civil engineering of the 19th century. Built in just five years, it connects Bormio to Spondigna through 88 hairpin turns and seven tunnels, reaching an altitude of 2,758 meters. This artery has played a crucial role in connecting Milan to Vienna without passing through Switzerland, becoming over time a symbol of connection between different cultures and a stage for significant historical and sporting events.
The protagonist of the evening will be Giacomo Occhi, a comic-poetic actor from Bormio.
Through a mix of storytelling, images, and suggestions, the show will retrace the challenges, sacrifices, and battles of those who have made the Stelvio Pass Road a symbol of determination and human ingenuity. An exciting journey that celebrates not only the architectural work but also the stories and cultures it has united over the course of two centuries.
A must-see event for all those who wish to immerse themselves in the history and emotions related to the Stelvio Pass Road. An evening to rediscover, through the language of theater, the strength of a work that continues to enchant and inspire.
