Read Bormio
The Department of Culture organizes "Read Bormio", a series of meetings with different authors.
Reading and discussion of the book "Gino Augusti l'arditissimo Conte" (Gino Augusti the daring Count) by Giovanni Martines Augusti.
Plot
Count Gino Augusti was an extremely valiant officer of the bombers and cavalry. A hero of the charge at Monastier, he received medals for military valor and the friendship of distinguished figures both in the military field, such as Francesco Baracca, Gabriele d’Annunzio, Manfred von Richthofen (the Red Baron), Italo Balbo, Dino Grandi, Amedeo di Savoia, Winston Churchill, and in the artistic field, such as Ernest Hemingway, Giacomo Puccini, Arturo Toscanini, Giuseppe Prezzolini.
The story of the Daring Count is finally narrated thanks to the rich and valuable documentary and memoir archive of his nephew Giovanni Martines Augusti. The book, enriched with about 300 images, allows not only to retrace the major events of the first half of the twentieth century, from the Italo-Turkish war to the First World War, from the long post-war period to the Second World War, but also to discover little-known or even secret facts.
