The route starts in the center of Livigno, winding on a flat, paved road towards the magnificent Livigno Lake. Once at the lake, the route shifts to the bike path, where the gradient begins to climb gently, allowing your legs to warm up gradually. The bike path continues until the entrance to the picturesque Val Federia. Here, you immerse yourself in nature by taking the low, wide dirt path that snakes through the heart of the valley. The initial section alternates between long falsoplanes and short, gentle climbs, enveloped by the quiet of the forest. Once past the woods and crossing a stream on a picturesque bridge, the trail becomes more challenging. In fact, short but intense climbs follow and others more prolonged, interspersed with false-floors that offer respite between inclines. The trail maintains this conformation until it reaches a scenic clearing that marks the end of the climb. Here, you can finally admire the entire valley in all its majestic beauty.
At this point, the most enjoyable part of the trail begins: the descent. The return in the direction of the village takes place along the Val Federia high road, which is initially characterized by wide and rather steep descents on dirt roads. After crossing a bridge over a stream, the surface changes to asphalt. The asphalt section continues downhill, alternating between sections of false flat and less steep descents. The entire descent is framed by the many characteristic Livigno huts, which lend a magical and timeless atmosphere to the valley.
Once you reach the valley floor, the route rejoins the bike path traveled on the outward journey with a slightly downhill section, then rejoins the initial flat road. This last segment is perfect for stretching your legs and completing the return to the starting point. This exciting route offers not only the opportunity to admire the unspoiled beauty and peace of Val Federia, but also allows you to explore its traditional huts, discovering the more authentic side of Livigno.
