Excursion Rifugio Forni - Pizzini - Branca. Between marmots and glaciers
A loop hike in the heart of Cedec Valley, starting from Rifugio Forni (2.178m). The trail unravels towards Rifugio Pizzini (2.706m), crossing high-altitude meadows, where we will meet Park researchers engaged in their study of the ecology of the Alpine marmot, a curious mountain sentinel that is particularly common in this valley.
From Pizzini we will proceed towards Rifugio Branca (2.493m), along an itinerary with spectacular views over the Forni Glacier. Here, we can reflect on the “Year of the Glaciers”, an initiative that highlights the importance of these white giants as water reserves and climate indicators, which today are dramatically retreating due to climate change.
The return at Rifugio Forni closes a fascinating and varied route, ideal for whoever is looking for a day of walking among alpine fauna and glacial panoramas.
