ArcheoAlps Excursion: Under the Tresero Glacier: the highest rock engravings in Europe
The excursion begins from the parking area at the Berni Refuge (2540m) in the Gavia Valley. From here, we ascend through the Val Dosegù, a barren area that is little frequented by hikers, where the sense of wilderness dominates.
Reaching an altitude of 3000m, at the foot of the Punta del Segnale, we will discover the highest rock engravings in Europe, dated to the Bronze Age. What makes these historical testimonies so unique is not only their ancient dating: they form a new piece in the story of the relationship between man and mountain. It is indeed surprising that such inhospitable places were frequented even at that time.
