E-bike Aprica, Valbelviso, Radici di Campo

Val Belviso is long, deep and dominated at the top by the silhouette of Mount Torena, which is reflected in the large artificial lake at the bottom of the valley. It starts from Aprica by descending to Ponte di Ganda. The climb starts here and continues until below the Val Belviso dam (picnic area): it is on a road, partly paved and partly dirt, with gradients of 15 % in places, as well as in the hairpin bends to climb up the side of the dam. It then continues on a level dirt road with the stupendous scenery of the lake surrounded by fir woods. At the bottom of the reservoir you climb with difficulty to the left on steep switchbacks to reach the wide terrace of Radici di Campo. Unfortunately, the road to Malga Campo climbs with a constant gradient of over 20 %, is very bumpy, with large boulders, potholes and is difficult to pedal for a biker who is not technically trained and experienced. Be careful on the return with the uphill section to Aprica Texts and photos by Federico Pollini.
