BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The parish church of Cepina, founded in 1356 and expanded during the 15th and 16th centuries, houses important works of art, including a 1498 fresco attributed to Giovannino da Sondalo and a precious 15th-century wooden altarpiece of Northern origin, likely acquired during the Protestant Reformation.
Richly decorated, the altarpiece features carved and painted scenes dedicated to the Virgin Mary and the Saints, with stylistic echoes of Albrecht Dürer's art. At the center, the Madonna enthroned with Child is flanked by Saint Barbara and Saint Mary Magdalene.
The main altar, with a statue of the Assumption, dates back to the 18th century; the side altars hold 17th-century paintings, including a canvas by Carlo Marni.
