ACTIVITY:
Guided tours led by volunteers from the Pro Loco Valdisotto, taking you on a journey through places of worship and historical treasures that reveal the soul of our region.
SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Of very ancient origin, the church likely began as a castle church for a medieval fortress that once guarded the entrance to the Bormio area—of which only part of a surrounding wall remains today.
Considered one of the most beautiful churches in Alta Valtellina due to its panoramic and secluded location and its artistic value, it houses fresco cycles spanning from the 14th to the 16th century.
Outside, visitors can see an 18th-century ossuary—one of the few surviving examples—and a detached bell tower standing on a rocky spur.
