Guided tours led by volunteers from the Pro Loco Valdisotto, taking you on a journey through places of worship and historical treasures that reveal the soul of our region.
SHORT DESCRIPTION:
The sanctuary, begun in 1726, stands in a panoramic location on the site of a votive chapel commissioned by Giovannino Guana in gratitude for surviving an attack by weasels—animals once feared and believed to possess demonic powers.
The church was completed in 1742 and dedicated to Our Lady of Caravaggio, whose apparition dates back to 1432.
Noteworthy elements include the wooden altarpiece of the main altar, commissioned in Paris in 1885 and depicting the Marian vision, as well as the 18th-century painting on the left altar featuring the Angel and Tobias, the Virgin of Mount Carmel, and several saints.
The frescoes adorning the vaulted ceiling—executed between the 19th and early 20th centuries—depict episodes from the life of the Virgin and Marian symbols.
