The legendary Stelvio ski run

Downhill skiing at Bormio can be summarized in one word: Stelvio, the ski run of champions.
Home of the World Championships, World Cup, and the downhill men’s race, in Bormio adrenaline rules: starting from Bormio 3000, at the top of Cima Bianca (9882 feet/3012 meters), it is possible to descend to Bormio (4019 feet/1225 meters) without stopping—but it requires a pair of very fit legs!

The slopes of Bormio, however, are suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts. The Bormio resort on Mount Vallecetta extends from town to Bormio 2000, and then up to Bormio 3000, and comprises 15 lifts. These lifts include gondola, tram, several modern detachable chair lifts, plus a few older chair and poma lifts. The 31 miles (50 km) of ski runs are well marked, and are categorized by difficulty in red, blue, and black. There is also the nursery slope for beginners, playground in the snow for the youngest visitors, plus ski and snowboard schools and a rental shop.

Of course, before, during, and after your many runs down the mountain, you will find a very rich selection of refuges, après-ski bars, and restaurants.
