The "Peace Trail" is a circular route that starts and returns to the iconic Rifugio Forni (2170 m a.s.l.), a landmark for hiking and mountaineering in Valfurva. The hike covers about 9 kilometers and offers a complete immersion in both the magnificence of the alpine landscape and the historical memory of the Great War front.
After departing from Rifugio Forni, the trail begins to climb gently, crossing the wide pastures of Malga dei Forni, where in summer it is easy to encounter grazing animals. Continuing, the route takes the direction of Cima Branca, reaching the shoulder of the mountain. Here, the landscape is transformed and becomes the keeper of important relics of the Great War, silent witnesses of the harsh fighting that took place on these peaks. This will be a unique opportunity to reflect on the history and meaning of peace, in a natural setting of rare beauty.
From the shoulder of the mountain, the view opens up to an indescribable panorama: the majestic peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale Group silhouetted on the horizon, providing glimpses of "the 13 peaks" that will leave you breathless.
Continuing the loop, the route descends gently to the picturesque Valle delle Rosole, a more intimate and atmospheric setting, before climbing slightly to return to the Forni, passing by the comfortable Rifugio Branca (2493 m a.s.l.).
From here, the last downhill section will take you back to the starting point.
