By Car
Bormio is easy to reach by car.
From Milan or Lake Como, take the SS 38 road from the north end of the lake.
ATTENTION! From 10 to 14 July (excluding holidays and pre-holidays) in the time slot from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.: traffic closure on all SS 38 roads from km 83+700 to 100+010
ATTENTION! The SP 27 road in the locality of Tola Valdisotto (and the adjacent stretch of the Sentiero Valtellina cycle/pedestrian path) is temporarily closed due to landslide. Motor vehicles can travel on the SS 38 road, while cyclists who want to reach Mazzo di Valtellina or Grosio from Bormio to climb the Mortirolo must use a taxi service or the regular bus from Bormio to Tirano (first useful stop, Le Prese or Sondalo or reach Grosio or Mazzo) loading their bikes onto the bus. Not all buses have bike racks, so seat reservations are compulsory by contacting Automobilistica Perego directly (info@busperego.com / Tel. +39 0342 701200 / +39 0342 905090). Click HERE for the bus timetable (Bormio-Tirano-Bormio line A070).
From Bergamo or Brescia, the easiest route is via the Aprica Pass on the SS 39. This road is also open in winter. Or you could travel via the Gavia pass (closed in winter).
From the east, you have the option of the Stelvio pass (only open in summer) or the Tunnel Munt La Schera from Livigno (open all year round). Another option from Switzerland is to take the Bernina pass.
