Bormio, positioned in the heart of the Alps, is the ideal point of departure for numerous automobile excursions to places of great interest, in the Valtellina, Trentino Alto Adige, and Switzerland.

The entire Alta Valtellina is lined with roads that climb into the mountains, where you will encounter small villages, woods, pastures, streams, and ponds. For those who love to ride on roads with twists and turns, that are kept accessible throughout the year, and which are for the most part well paved, the Alta Valtellina provides plenty of options. One favorite is to cross each of our high alpine passes, and then visit and explore the neighboring valleys.

Our legendary alpine passes: From the Stelvio to the Gavia

Legendary names like Stelvio, Gavia, Aprica, Bernina, Forcola, Mortirolo,  and Foscagno evoke legendary scenarios from a long history of auto rallies that has passed over their summits. And these are only a few of the passes you will meet during your journeys, as there area many more. Some alpine passes like the Stelvio, Gavia, and Forcola are closed in winter, while many others like, the Bernina, Foscagno, and Aprica, are open throughout the year.
