Dog sledding means a sled pulled by a pack of dogs, and near Bormio, in the village of Arnoga, in Valdidentro, is the home of the Italian Center Dog Sled Husky Village, where you can try the exhilaration of becoming a musher—conducting a dog sled for a day.

The dog sled was born in the big snowy prairies of North America, long before the advent of snowmobiles, as there was snow present most of the year, and the dog sled was the only means of locomotion for Eskimos, Atabaskan Indians, and pioneers. Over time, dog sledding has become a sport where Alaskan Husky, Siberian Husky, or other breeds of Nordic dogs, can run distances exceeding 124 miles (200 km) per day.

Ready to drive your dog sled?

The Italian Center Dog Sled Husky Village offers you the chance to experience the thrill of driving your own dog sled, with your team of Alaskan Huskies (from 2 to 4); you will issue orders that you will be taught in advance, you will decide how to get around in groups of maximum 8 persons. Of course, an instructor and well trained dogs will help you to live this exciting adventure.

In the magical scenery of the Stelvio National Park, along the Decauville or Val Viola, you will slide on the snow, immersed in the silence of the woods, broken only by the advancing of your sled and your dogs and you will find a sense of great freedom and peace.

Suitable for everyone (children, the elderly, and the disabled can sit in the warm bag on the sled driven by the instructor), the Center organizes basic excursions of 5 km of 40 to 60 minutes, longer excursions of about 2 hours, and team competitions for larger groups and Company retreats.

In the summer it is possible to organize excursions of Husky Trekking. Each participant wears a harness connected by a tow line to a Husky, which, following the commands you give it, will tow you along walk on the paths in the woods.
