Bormio, one of the best golf courses in Italy
The “Furnace” is a 9–hole golf course named for the ancient iron smelting factory nearby, and is just outside of Bormio. The course is suitable both for beginners just starting to learn this wonderful sport, and for the more advanced, long time players. Golfers of all levels will be able to indulge themselves on the “Furnace,” a course that many experts consider to one of the best golf courses in the mountains of Italy.
Designed by Mario Verdieri of St. Moritz, the course has all the requirements for excellence; there is a wonderful panorama on the peaks surrounding, ideal climate, it is always fresh and dry, and has an optimal level of maintenance.
An offering for all tastes
Open daily from April to November, the course has great fairways, spectacular and well defended greens, and water hazards that double as reservoirs for the automatic irrigation system. The large practice area is equipped with driving range, putting green, and pitching green and it is open, until June 30th and after September 1st, from 8.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. while from July 1st to August 31st from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
It is a course that fully addresses the desires of a golfer: non repetitive terrain, a level of difficulty which engages the experts, while entertaining the beginners. The driving range, putting green, and pitching green can be accessed without fee by golfers trying the game for the first time, and receiving instruction from one of the skilled golf professionals. The golf professionals, in addition to individual lessons, also present courses and improvement clinics to help prepare golfers for the many tournaments that are organized during the summer season. There is a well stocked pro shop where it is possible to rent clubs and carts, and of course, there is a 19th hole (bar and restaurant), where you can relax after a round.
