/Epic Bormio’s mountain bike tour: “Le 3 Gondole”

The epic tour of Bormio and valleys to do by bicycle, mountain bike or e-bike!

A bike tour that touches all the valleys of the Bormio area, passing by spectacular places for landscapes, nature and history? And that perhaps uses all 3 cable cars of Bormio (Bormio, Santa Caterina and Isolaccia) to leave you all the fun of the descent ? We have it! It is the mountain bike tour of the 3 Gondolas.

The 3 Gondolas

The 3 Gondolas is a spectacular tour of medium difficulty for mountain bikes and e-bikes that unfolds within the tourist destination of Bormio, and involves the 3 main ski lifts of the area:

1. in Bormio, the Bormio-Bormio 2000 gondola
2. in Santa Caterina, the S.Caterina-Vallalpe gondola
3. in Valdidentro, the Isolaccia-Pian dela Mota gondola

Because it’s a closed circle circuit, this itinerary can be started from any of the three locations. In clockwise direction, however, the route provides relatively few meters of altitude difference to ride uphill – which means more downhill fun for you!

Along the itinerary Le 3 Gondole

This tour uses the dirt forest roads, paths, single trails and cycle lanes already in the area to offer a 66km long descent of emotions.

Along the way you can stop to admire the landscape and natural beauty of the area, such as the beautiful forest of the Strada dell’Acqua, the lakes at the Passo dell’Alpe, the huts of the Val di Rezzalo, but also places of historical and cultural interest like the Forte di Oga.

Nature and landscapes

Typical alpine landscapes, rich coniferous forests and green high mountain meadows, glaciers and perennial snow, rivers and ponds, with the peaks of the Ortles Cevedale Group as a frame. Expect to find many mountain villages, with houses made of stone and wood which become one with the natural environment.

Inserted in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, the Val di Rezzalo is a real open-air museum with its heritage of flora and fauna and significant examples of rural architecture.

Forte di Oga is a historic architecture that stands in a protected natural environment. It was built between 1908 and 1914 to defend the main Alpine passes and is now rehabilitated as a museum to allow everyone to rediscover the history of these valleys.

The great climbs are done with the lifts that allow the transport of mountain bikes and e-bikes in comfort.

The estimated travel time varies greatly according to your training and the ability to ride the MTB: it ranges from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 9 hours, including lunch break. Technical training (especially for descents) and medium athletics is required.

The ticket valid for the tour can be purchased in all three ticket offices located at the departures of the lifts. The agreed price is Euro 28.00 for the adult and Euro 20.00 for the reduced (children born from 2005 and subsequent years and seniors born from 1956 and earlier).

The ticket includes:

● the single ascent on the Bormio-Bormio 2000 cable car (NOTE for expert bikers: the ascent on the Bormio 2000-Cima Bianca cable car is also included)
● the single ascent on the S. Caterina-Vallalpe cable car
● the single ascent on the Isolaccia-Pian dela Mota cableway

The ticket is valid for two days from the time of issue.
