The 2020 Giro d’Italia will pass through Bormio! On May 28, 2020, the 103rd edition of the Giro d’Italia will bring its competitors on the Stelvio Pass and finish at Laghi di Cancano.

On October 24, the route of the 2020 Giro d’Italia was presented in Milan where the official route was confirmed. 58.8km of individual time trials but also a monstrous high-altitude final week that includes Passo dello Stelvio on twisting roads up to Laghi di Cancano above Bormio. Save the date: May 28, 2020!
This year, the uphill road to Laghi di Cancano has been the protagonist of series of major sports events. First, the road to Laghi di Cancano hosted the finish line of the a cycing amatorial event Granfondo Stelvio Santini on June 2nd. Then, on June 9th, it was the final scenery of the Giro Rosa, one of the main races in women’s road cycling. Last but not least, the climb to Laghi di Cancano accomodated professional and amateur cyclists in occasion of Enjoy Stelvio, when many of the most famous climbs in the Alps were closed to motor traffic and reserved solely for cyclists. Many professional cyclists participated in the event, including the famous Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso.
These events were Laghi di Cancano’s best calling card which paved the way for the allocation of stage 18 of the 2020 Giro d’Italia.
