As the weather forecast for the coming days predicts further deterioration and the risk of avalanche, the Giro d’Italia will not be able to pass on the Gavia on May 28th. It’s confirmed the climb of the Mortirolo. Discover the new route for Stage 16!
Giro d’Italia 2019 – Stage 16 on Mortirolo Pass
The new route, that will take place on Tuesday the 28th, will remain with the same start and finish points, Lovere-Ponte di Legno. Instead of the Gavia Pass, it will include the ascent of Cevo (1.054 m), a new climb for the Giro and the passage from the most difficult side of Aprica, before the descent to Mazzo di Valtellina, where riders will tackle the Mortirolo Pass (1.854 m), and thereafter arrival at Ponte di Legno. The stage will be 194 km long with a 4.800 m vertical altitude gain.
