Info Coronavirus: what you need to know for your holiday in Bormio

Health and safety remain top of mind in the resort. Be sure to review how the resort is upholding the highest of standards in health and safety for all. Here are the most frequently asked questions and COVID-19 information and resources for travellers.

Can I come to Bormio on holiday?

Yes, Bormio is open to everyone. Fully vaccinated international travellers are welcome to visit Italy and Bormio. Fully vaccinated international travellers who meet Italy's entry criteria do not have to quarantine upon arrival in Canada. View full entry requirements on the Government of Italy's website.

Effective December 6, people aged 12+ must show proof of vaccination to access certain events, services and businesses in Bormio. This mandatory requirement applies to all residents of Italy, as well as travellers visiting from outside of Italy.

I intend to travel to Italy, what are the procedures?

If you enter Italy from any of the countries included in LIST C you must:
- present a negative swab test, either molecular, if taken within 48 hours prior to entry into Italy, or antigen, if taken within 24 hours prior to entry into Italy
- Green Covid-19 certification of vaccination or recovery
- fill in the passenger locator form.
Whoever is unable to present a green Covid-19 certification of vaccination or recovery will nevertheless be required to present a negative swab test, as stated above, undergo self-isolation for a period of 5 days, under medical supervision, and then mandatorily repeat the (molecular or antigen) swab test.

If you enter Italy from any of the countries included in LIST D you must:
- present a negative swab test, either molecular, if taken within 72 hours prior to entry into Italy, or antigen, if taken within 24 hours prior to entry into Italy. The time limit for the molecular test is reduced to 48 hours for persons travelling from the United Kingdom.
- Green Covid-19 certification of vaccination or recovery
- fill in the passenger locator form.
Whoever is unable to present a green Covid-19 certification of vaccination or recovery will nevertheless be required to present a negative swab test, as stated above, undergo self-isolation for a period of 5 days, under medical supervision, and then mandatorily repeat the (molecular or antigen) swab test.

ENTRY OF MINORS
Children aged below six years do not need to take a molecular or antigen swab test in order to enter the country.
Minors (i.e. persons below 18 years of age) travelling with a parent who is not required to quarantine (because he/she holds proof of vaccination or of recovery from Covid-19) shall also be exempted from
quarantine (although, if aged between 6 and 17 years they must provide proof of having taken a swab test with a negative result prior to entering Italy).

When and where do I need to wear a mask?

Everyone in Bormio aged 5 and older is required to wear a mask in indoor public settings, regardless of immunization status. Until January 31st, it is mandatory to wear a mask in outdoor settings.

Until March 31, it is mandatory to wear FFP2 masks on public transport and on closed ski lifts.

Are there any restrictions for the ski area?

Here are a few simple measures for safe skiing in white or yellow zone:
- Proof of vaccination compulsory to access the closed lifts (cable cars and chairlifts with bubble)
- Proof of vaccination is not compulsory for children under 12 years
- Social distancing
- Mandatory to wear FFP2 mask during thorughout your gondola ride (from 6 years of age)
- Capacity reduced to 80% for closed lifts (no restrictions on open lifts)

It is recommended that you have a paper version of the green certificate with you as mobile phones may run down due to low temperatures.

Where can I buy the skipass?

To avoid queues and gatherings, buy your ski pass online and collect it at the ticket offices near the slopes without lining up!
You will need to follow 3 simple steps:
1. buy your ski pass online
2. without standing in the line, take one of the free keycards available at the ticket offices
3. activate the keycard manually by following the instructions received by email
