Discovering the Churches of Bormio - Guided tour of the Church of S. Spirito organized by the "Volunteers for Culture".

Today desacralized, it was recently purchased and restored by the Municipality of Bormio.
It has been abandoned as a place of worship since the beginning of the 19th century, first becoming a barn, then a tool shed, a dormitory, and finally a private house. The structure is worth visiting due to the beautiful frescoes preserved inside, enhanced by the recent restoration work.
As for the origin of the paintings, the wall and apse paintings can be dated to the 15th century, while the vault, which is stylistically and thematically unified, seems to be attributable to the first half of the 16th century. Among the most important frescoes to note are The Coronation of the Virgin (probably the work of the workshop of Giovannino da Sondalo) and the scene of the Virgin Ursula with her husband, attributed to Bertolino de Buris.
