Bormio, a paradise for sports
Bormio, with its neighboring resorts, offers more than 105 miles (170 km) of slopes for alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, and snowboarding. Plus, there is the opportunity of skiing during the summer on the glacier adjacent to Stelvio pass.
Particularly fascinating are the possibilities for day-trips back-country skiing and snowshoeing provided by the 372 miles (600 Km) of snow covered trails and roads in the Stelvio National Park. During the summer season these same trails and roads are perfect for your hiking and mountain biking adventures.
In addition, road biking fans can challenge themselves with some of the big climbs from the Giro d’Italia that have helped make cycling in Italy famous throughout the world: the Stelvio Pass, the Gavia Pass, and the Mortirolo Pass.
Additional sporting opportunities include a nine-hole golf course, the all-year ice rink, a curling rink, rock climbing near Bagni Vecchi, horse back riding, as well as many, many more.
Bormio’s historical town center and thermal spas
A stroll through the beautiful and historic town center of Bormio, with its churches, palaces, and museums is like stepping back in time—a time more than 700 years ago, when Bormio was a small municipal democracy in the center of the Alps.
And, finally, be pampered by Bormios warm thermal waters—known since ancient Roman times–at the spa resorts of Bormio Terme, Bagni Nuovi, and Bagni Vecchi. Each of Bormio’s spa resorts is fed from the same 9 natural hot springs, but each has unique and interesting water and steam features, and each comes from a different era. Of course, all of Bormio’s spas have quaint bars or cafes, where guests can savor the local specialties and enjoy the famous Valtellina wines!
