Cupéta is a cake mainly produced in Bormio during the St Lucy’s Day. Discover how to prepare it
200 g of honey Valtellina
200 g of sugar
200 g of walnuts, coarsely chopped
80 g of dry biscuits and amaretti cookies, crumbled
10 g of breadcrumbs
2 white waffle sheets
a knob of butter
In a saucepan over low heat the honey with sugar and butter, stirring constantly and skimming often. When the mixture will be fairly thick, remove from heat and add the walnuts, coarsely chopped, dry biscuits and amaretti cookies, crumbled and breadcrumbs.
Mix well together and then pour the mixture on a waffle sheet and roll it out. Cover with the second sheet and, with a rolling pin, press and roll to obtain a thickness of about half a centimeter. Cut the Cupéta into pieces.
